In the fall semester of 2020, I took a course titled, "Social Media in the Workplace." In my current career role I do not have much to do with out social media management, but I was curious to explore how I could impact our business in a positive way by having a better understanding of the effective uses of social media in business. For our final project, we were tasked with developing a full social media plan to explore more how businesses require a business plan to implement new initiatives, and to further our skills in presenting project information. In order to effectively do this, I had to consider what the needs of the business were, what the goal of their social media postings are, and what messaging they want to convey to their end-users - the customer.

As I continued to develop my understanding of the threshold concept, this project was key to my continued understanding that who your user is may change depending on the project. For this particular assignment, I had to consider my user as my client and their needs as I was pitching a project idea that would cost them money to produce, but would also affect their end user - their customers. - Producing and pitching this project would impact what the customers see from the company and can influence further business for the company. Navigating through this, I continually had to consider what ideas would be exciting for a customer, but pair that with what the cost would be and making the project obtainable and realistic for the business to produce. Working alongside professionals in this way was key to my growth as a technical communicator, and this project allowed me to explore how you can successfully serve many users along the steps of a project to meet all of the required needs.
